Most recently, Karolien has been working with 261 Fearless Inc, a global women-only running organisation which focuses on education while at the same time promoting an active and healthy lifestyle in collaboration with partners such as Adidas and Peloton. As part of the organisation's core team she looks after all of the social media channels and makes strategic decisions about online marketing and PR campaigns.
Subsequently, she also started looking after social media for the local 261 Fearless UK branch, mainly aiming at attracting new club members and recruiting new coaches across the UK.
Following a move from Belgium to the UK at the end of 2015, Karolien took on a role with Newcastle University which primarily required excellent communication skills on all levels (academics, researchers, students and admin staff) to improve and streamline the internal information flow within the Institute of Cellular Medicine.
Her main achievements as part of this role were setting up social media channels and campaigns as well as leading a project funded by the Learning and Teaching Committee to investigate International Postgraduate Student expectations in order to offer better support.
Before moving to the UK, Karolien was mainly active in Human Resources. It was crucial to know the target group for every specific job advert to ensure the correct language and tone were used as well as the most efficient job ad channels in order to match the best person for each job.
